Chasing the Meltemi: Record-Breaking Heights in Mykonos

Chasing the Meltemi: Record-Breaking Heights in Mykonos

In the sound of the wild Meltemi winds, two Harlem riders rewrote the record books.

Over just a few charged days in Korfos Bay, Mykonos - one of Greece’s most powerful big air playgrounds - Baptiste Bourdoulous and Lorenzo Casati sent it to the edge of possibility (and well beyond), powered by the new Harlem Peak.

From a foil world record to all-time national highs, these were two days to remember.

Sunday: Lorenzo Hits 30m in 50+ Knot Chaos

When the Meltemi arrived on Sunday 29 June , it didn't whisper, it roared. World Champion Lorenzo Casati was deep in it, riding through gusts up to 55 knots, using every element to push higher than ever.

“The wind was absolutely nuking. When the Meltemi kicks in, it's powerful and unforgiving. We live for days like that.”

Riding the 7m Harlem Peak with Lead Bar with 22m lines and his 138 Ascent board, Lorenzo launched off and soared to a 30.7m jump—the highest Surfr-recorded height ever in Greece.

“When you can see the other side of the bay all the way to Ornos, you know it’s big. But this time, I knew I was heading to the moon.”

“The Peak and Ascent are my go-to setup when I want to send it. Fast, stable, and made for moments like this.”

Next up for the champion? Back to Italy for training, demo days at Lake Garda and Lake Como, followed by a special event with Ducati.

Monday: Baptiste Breaks the World Hydrofoil Record – 34.4m

Just a day later, Baptiste Bourdoulous made history of his own with a record-breaking hydrofoil jump of 34.4m - the highest ever recorded on a foil.

“It was 30–35 knots with choppy water. I was riding the 8m Peak with 22m lines and my hydrofoil in Korfos - the strongest place in Greece.”

After 20 minutes of riding fully powered, Baptiste spotted the gust. He carved upwind, found his kicker, and launched.

“I sent it, brought the kite to 12 with a nonstop pull. It felt massive. After a couple of downloops and a soft butt check, I saw my watch: 34.4 meters. I immediately felt the adrenaline — and everyone on the beach was jumping and shouting.”

The jump set a new world record for hydrofoil height, proving the Harlem Peak is made for chasing limits.

“The gear is everything, especially on foil. When you’re riding hard upwind, you need to sheet out fully and still have full control. That’s what the Peak gives you.”

His next mission?

“World record on twintip. I know I can do it.” - shared Baptiste.

Built to Break Records: The Harlem Peak

Both riders were riding the new Harlem Peak - the kite designed to own the skies. With massive lift, precise feedback, and rock-solid stability in strong wind, it’s the kite for record chasers and riders who refuse to settle.

Pair it with the Ascent twintip board for the ultimate setup to push your new personal best.
