In the second leg of the Türkiye Open Wingfoil League, held at the Urla Pro Sailing Academy, 30 athletes competed fiercely over three days, completing a total of 14 challenging races. Among them, 16-year-old Lavinya Sarıhanlıoğlu made a remarkable impression in her debut racing season. As the youngest female competitor, Lavinya delivered an outstanding performance, clinching first place in the U19 girls' category and securing a commendable third place in the women's category.
The race conditions in Urla were varied, testing the competitors' adaptability. Lavinya demonstrated her skill and versatility, using a Harlem Pace 5m wing in the lighter 8-11 knot winds on the first day, and expertly handling the 15-18 knot winds on the second day. On the final day, with winds reaching 20-22 knots, she switched to a 4m Pace, showcasing her ability to excel in stronger conditions.
As Lavinya sets her sights on the final leg of the championship in Akyaka, she continues her training with unwavering determination, aiming to build on her impressive performance in Urla. Her journey is one to watch, as she quickly becomes a rising star in the wingfoil scene.
Congratulations, Lavinya!
